Humongous Ring

John Field

£500

This jumbo-sized ring has likely been adapted from an original bracelet setting though there is no evidence of any original side-clasps. Although signed Miers, the profile was painted and expertly bronzed by Miers’ partner John Field. Painted in sepia rather than the more usual black, it features a gentleman with a receding hairline and side-whiskers wearing a buttoned-up coat and frilled chemise.

Under magnification, there is light dust visible under the glass and light scratching to the glass. The underside of the ring has a small pierced hole at the bottom edge whilst the band is slightly mis-shapened and shows evidence of size alteration.
