The Pearl Choker

A Monochromatic Study

Sold

Delicately painted in shades of grey and opaque white, this delightful portrait is surprisingly rich in detail and shows an elegant Georgian lady holding a string of pearls and wearing a lace-trimmed dress with a floral embroidered cloak over her shoulders. Her upswept hair is dressed with ropes of pearls to complement her earrings and her stunning four-strand pearl choker tied with a ribbon bow.

Dating to the late eighteenth century, the portrait is set in the original gold frame with reeding around the side. Apart from light dust under the glass, the portrait is in good condition.
