Red-Haired Beauty

Edith Margaret Cannon

This young lady with her cascading red curls is reminiscent of a Pre-Raphaelite painting. Trimmed with turquoise ribbon and with a rose on her corsage, her white dress heightens the intense colour of her hair.

The portrait is signed bottom right ‘E M Cannon’. Edith Margaret Cannon was born in Lancashire in 1856. She exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Miniature Society between 1892 and 1904.

The miniature is set in a later gilt metal frame backed with velvet.
