Profiling

Opting to have his portrait painted in profile has allowed this gentleman to show off his well-groomed sideburns and bushy eyebrows. Indeed he looks every inch the Regency gentleman in his deeply lapelled coat, tall stock and cravat.

Neatly painted in watercolour on card, the portrait is signed along the edge in block capitals IH (or JH) and dated 1807. It is housed in the original gold frame, the reverse glazed to show plaited brown hair.
