The Buttoned Waistcoat

French School, ca 1790

£400

Enamel portraits are always so vibrant and this gentleman in his green coat bright red waistcoat is no exception. Quite why his waistcoat needs so many many gold buttons is a mystery! His powdered wig is worn en queue with side buckles (rolled curls).

Enamel on copper set in a gold frame enclosed on the back. There is some dust under the glass and light crazing visible when magnified.
