Puss, Puss

It is the little blue-eyed grey tabby cat that catches the eye in this pencil and watercolour half-length portrait of a seated lady. The portrait is signed and dated along the bottom edge – John Griffiths 1824 – and is set in a good quality dark wood frame with a gilt slip.
