Thomas Charles Wageman (1787-1863)


A delicately drawn pencil portrait heightened with watercolour of a studious-looking gentleman in spectacles. Signed and dated Wageman / 1836. Some age-browning though it remains an interesting portrait study.

Thomas Charles Wageman (1787-1863) exhibited widely and was appointed portrait painter to the King of Holland. He was a founder member of the New Water-Colour Society in 1831 and is best known for his portraits in pencil and watercolour.
