The Ruff Collar
Circa 1820
£235
Shown in profile, this young gentleman in his skeleton suit with brass buttons and ruff collar has the look of a studious schoolboy.
Painted in watercolour on card, the portrait resides in the original papier-mâché frame with flat glass, brass surround and emblems (rose, thistle and shamrock) hanger. The portrait is in fine condition; the frame has a surface chip on the bottom edge and the usual edge nibbles.
