The Oversized Hat

A delightful small watercolour portrait of a young child wearing a bright red dress trimmed on the neckline and on the sleeves with white lace, white ankle socks with ankle-strapped shoes and a wonderful black hat with a tassel on the top and an over-sized bow to one side. The child is seated on a patterned rug and is holding aloft a pink rose.

Painted in watercolour on card, the portrait is signed bottom right ‘H. Betts Artist’. It is housed in an oval ebonised frame with a narrow gilt border and convex glass. Good condition.
