The Lace Cap

Moriz Denze

Sold

Reverse painted on glass, the delicate detailing in this profile has been achieved by scratching the paint with a needle. This technique has been used to add texture to the dress and a fine pattern of foliage and tiny flowers to the lady’s cap tied under her chin with a ribbon bow.

The silhouette has been painted by the early 19th century Dresden artist Moriz Denze and has his stencilled label on the reverse of the circular turned black wood frame.
