Sweet Clara

Circa 1830

SOLD

This is a painted and gilded silhouette of a little girl holding a spray of flowers and wearing a wide-shouldered dress with short puffed sleeves and a ribbon waistband tied in a bow at the back. Her feet are ever so tiny!

An ink inscription on the reverse names her as Clara Titteton? (the handwriting is difficult to read). The silhouette has light age-browning and is housed in an attractive and eye-catching bird’s eye maple frame with inset rosewood corners.
