Enamel on Gold
Dating to around 1750, this delightfully tiny enamel portrait shows a blue-eyed lady in a cornflower blue dress edged with white lace, her brown hair piled up and adorned with a rope of pearls.
Painted in enamel on gold, the portrait is set under domed crystal in a gold pendant frame bordered with seed pearls and with a pierced ribbon surmount likewise inset with tiny seed pearls. Also under domed crystal on the reverse is a charming sepia painting on ivory of a house in a river landscape with a spired church in the distance, possibly representing the lady’s family estate.
Excellent condition and very wearable!
