Lady Augusta Finch

After Andrew Plimer

Reserved

This appealing portrait shows Lady Augusta Finch in a relaxed pose in a garden landscape. Gazing into the middle distance, she is wearing a white dress with a draped neckline and a cornflower blue sash with a heart-shaped pearl ornament. With her loose curls tumbling over her shoulder, her sash not only matches the wrap over the arms but also reflects the colour of her eyes.

Augusta Sophia led a life of privilege being the eldest daughter of George Greville, 2nd Earl of Warwick and his second wife Henriette Vernon. In 1821 she married Heneage Finch, 5th Earl of Aylesford.

The portrait is in good condition and resides in a gold frame that is glazed on the reverse to reveal a romantic keepsake of a lock of hair laid on silk.
