Kid Gloves

Seated by a draped window, this young Regency lady has a splendid view of the terrace and the rocky seashore. She is dressed for the evening entertainment in a fashionable empire-line dress, a beaded necklace and elbow-length kid gloves with a rich blue wrap over her knees. Her brown hair has been swept up with small curls framing her face.

The portrait is set in an oval ebonised frame with an inner gilded border. Under magnification, the portrait has two tiny areas of paint loss in the background behind her head but is otherwise in fine condition.
