This is a finely drawn portrait that appears to capture the compassionate character of its subject. The white-haired gentleman has blue eyes that reflect the colour of his coat. His stock is tied in a neat bow.

Watercolour and pencil, faintly signed and dated in pencil on the reverse and residing in a bird’s eye maple veneer frame with a gilt slip.
