Sporting a leather collar, this golden labrador is the picture of patience. It was painted by Margot Lindsay Cuthbert and is housed in a decorative silver-colour frame backed with brown velvet. The ivorine base is irregular on the right edge and at the top left corner.

Born in 1893, Margot was the daughter of a Devon schoolmaster. She studied at Exeter College of Art before marrying the Rev. M. W. Cuthbert. She lived in London and exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1925.
