Gentleman by Thomas Le Hardy

A portrait by the lesser known artist, Le Hardy of an older gentleman, signed and dated 1796. Gold frame, glazed reverse to reveal plaited hair.

Thomas Le Hardy (1777-1811) worked mostly in Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands and was most likely also born there. The Victoria & Albert Museum in London have two of his signed portrait miniatures in their collection.
