Named after her mother, Charlotte Elizabeth was born in Norwich on 27 February 1822. In June 1848, at the age of 26, she married David Dickson, a wholesale stationer. The couple lived at several addresses in the university area of Edinburgh and had three sons. Charlotte died in 1901 at the age of 79.
