A Snapshot

Pencil Sketch

Sold

It would be so interesting to know who this gentleman was but regrettably his details have all been lost to history. The style of his frock coat with its collarless neck and sloping front with long buttonholes dates the portrait to the 1750s.  Chances are the coat was bright in colour, red being a favourite choice at the time.

Neatly drawn in pencil on paper, the portrait is housed in a period oak frame.
